Diversity and Innovation for Transformative Leadership

On September 15th and 16th, the Center hosted and facilitated the President’s Forum on Transformative Leadership for Diversity and Innovation forum in collaboration with LADO (the Liberal Arts Diversity Officers), Middlebury College, and Wesleyan University.

This forum brought together the presidents, chief academic officers, and chief diversity officers of 16 liberal arts colleges and 2 research universities, with the goal of exploring promising frameworks and strategies for linking diversity and innovation to core institutional priorities, and developing concrete opportunities for cross-institutional collaboration that will enable liberal arts colleges to increase the impact and sustainability of diversity efforts at both the institutional and national levels. Susan Sturm, the Center’s Director, and Freeman Hrabowski, the President of University of Maryland, Baltimore County, co-facilitated and presented a theory of action that framed the event.
