Kinga Reka Makovi
Kinga is a PhD candidate at the Department of Sociology at Columbia University, where she is a member of the Interdisciplinary Center for Innovative Theory and Empirics (INCITE), led by Peter Bearman. Her research interests include social networks, social movements, historical sociology and quantitative methods. Kinga finds joy in exploring spatially and temporally sensitive data structures that enable causal claims, especially applications in historical sociology. Her dissertation project examines the movement for the abolition of the slave trade in the late 1700s, early 1800s England. She holds and MA in Sociology from Columbia University (2012), and an MS in mathematical economics from Corvinus University of Budapest (2009).
